Surface Trends
for Halsteds Bay, Lake Minnetonka
The
RUSS data from Halsteds Bay in Lake Minnetonka has been summarized
to show the average values of the measured parameters in the
lake's surface layer on each day.
NOTE:
Currently the RUSS unit is limited to an uppermost sampling
depth of about 0.7 meters. Typically, we will average values
for 1, 2, and 3 meters to calculate the mean "surface water" value.
The depth range was chosen based on examination of the mixed
layer depth from soon after ice-out through June 1998.
Also
available is a downloadable Excel
spreadsheet (it's about 130 Kbytes) that contains all of
the data and charts listed above.
These
data should be considered "provisional" until otherwise
indicated. The data are undergoing several rounds of QA/QC
review and some of the data may be modified at a subsequent
date. We chose to leave the data hose on full blast whenever
possible to familiarize ourselves with the operation and maintenance
requirements of the RUSS units and to generate real data for
use in developing curricula and lesson plans. Data gaps were
associated with various RUSS system upgrades and occasional
gremlins.
